Last December, Sideshow announced that they secured a license to produce statues and art based on the ThunderCats series. Who doesn't love and miss watching the amazing cat-like humanoids that defended Thundera from villains through our very television screens?
Well, last week, Sideshow announced that their Mumm-Ra statue will be available for preorder this February 15th! Don't miss the chance to own Sideshow's latest addition to the collection and first statue based on the ThunderCats.
The franchise was created by Tobin ‘Ted’ Wolf and ran from 1985 to 1989 with a revival done in 2011-2012. There have also been two video games (1987, 2012) and two series of comics published by Marvel when the series was still on the air, then Wildstorm in 2002. The series was originally animated by Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation while being produced, written, and voice acted in the United States. It was produced by Rankin-Bass Productions and their parent company Telepictures Corporation. They merged with Lorimar Productions, who would eventually be bought by Warner Bros. in 1989, where they currently reside.
The Mumm-Ra statue will be up for preorder this Thursday, February 15th, and we expect to be able to preorder Lion-O very soon after. The Lion-O statue was also teased back in December as part of Sideshow's Christmas teasers.
We are assuming that statues based on other ThunderCats characters are also in the works, or will probably be announced if these first two do well by fans.
Hope to see this guy at some point!
